You need help, but anxiety says “stay quiet”

If just hearing “ask your teacher” makes your heart race, this is for you.

Hey,

You hear it all the time:

“Just talk to your teacher.”
But if your heart races just hearing that suggestion… you’re not alone.

So many of the teens and young adults I work with tell me the same thing:

💬 “What if they think I’m lazy?”
💬 “What if I say the wrong thing?”
💬 “What if I start crying mid-sentence?”

Whether it’s a teacher who never smiles, or one that seems impossible to please, anxiety can make even the smallest conversation feel overwhelming.

But here’s the truth most people won’t tell you:
Talking to your teacher doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

In this week’s episode of Block Out the Noise, I share 4 tools to help you start those conversations with more confidence, even when anxiety is loud.

🎯 One of my favorite tools from the episode?
The Invisible Letter Strategy

Instead of jumping into a conversation you're not ready for, try this first:

📝 Open your notes app (or a journal)
📝 Write what you wish your teacher understood about you
📝 Don’t worry about sharing it—this is just for you

Writing it down gives you clarity.
You might find one line you do want to say.
Like: “I get nervous speaking up, but I really want to understand.”

It doesn’t have to be perfect.
It just has to be real.

I get how hard this can be.
I used to wait too long to ask for help—until the problem felt too big to fix.

But now I know:
You don’t need a brave speech.
You just need one small step.

You’ve got this.
